burn. is a ski film telling the story of how forest fires are impacting large swaths of terrain in the western United States and Canada. The MacDonald family lost their home in a fire that consumed more than 500 homes and was the most costly fire in Colorado history at the time. Since then, fires have continued to rage and are even more destructive.

In the wake of the fires, certain areas are transformed into beautiful playgrounds for skiers and snowboarders. The above//PRODUCTIONS crew traveled to many of these areas this winter in collaboration with Sweet Protection and Outlaw Beer.

Starting in Montana with the Sweet Protection crew, the team hunted burn areas throughout the state and finding some great riding along the way. Back home in Colorado, multiple days were spent in the Cameron Peak Fire area, the largest fire in Colorado history. The other impactful area in Colorado was a fire that happened almost 200 years ago. That fire burned a mining town and forest surrounding it. It has since regrown showcasing the incredible power that forests have to replenish themselves over time.
