We are a Richmond-based full-service production house specializing in portraiture, small-crew hybrid media campaigns, and films shot in studio and on location. We go places that excite, and we love working with people who are passionate about what they do.

After studying architecture and working in the industry for several years, Kellen MacDonald founded Above Productions to pursue his natural talent and deep passion for photography and filmmaking. Since then, he has created custom work and documentary-style marketing visuals for brands and professional athletes around the world.
In recent years, Kellen has traveled extensively alongside Olympic freeskiers Eileen Gu and Nick Goepper as they trained and competed — producing the most far-reaching and meaningful work of his career. His photography and cinematography have earned a multitude of awards, including Best in Show, Best Cinematography, and Best Sports Film.
Opening a dedicated gallery and studio has been a long-held goal. The space at 2500 Monument Avenue is more than Kellen could have dreamed of — a perfect environment for creation, collaboration, display, and hospitality.
Within this historic building sit two interconnected parts:
• The studio — where elevated portraiture and commercial work come to life.
• The gallery — a place to showcase photographic work, host new release events, and welcome the community.
